California Umbrella, Inc. Has been producing high quality patio umbrellas & frames for over 65 years. The California Umbrella trademark is immediately recognized for its standard in engineering & innovation among all brands in the United States. Their umbrellas are constructed to give consumers many years of pleasure. Their canopy designs are limited only by the imagination. They are dedicated to providing artistic, innovative, fashion conscience & high quality products for all of your customer needs. Quite simply the most innovative design for the future of commercial grade umbrellas is the all fiberglass version of the classic market style. The entire frame is made of high durability fiberglass, making this the most weather resistant frame on the market. The traditional 9' canopy is tailor made for outdoor dining, providing excellent coverage & substantial shade. Real flexibility is an umbrella that blocks the sun, resists the elements, & opens up the possibilities for your outdoor space. The Sunbrella fabric is the best choice in the outdoor industry- durable, easy to maintain & UV safe. This type of fabric is water-repellant & through research, it has been proved that the fabric providesup to 98% protection against harmful UV rays. The darker the color of the fabric- the stronger the protection. You can use Sunbrella fabrics for as many years as you please & still get the same Degree of protection as the first day you bought it. Awarded "seal of Recommendation" by the skin Cancer foundation, Sunbrella fabric is simply the best you can get. Please note that all umbrellas are sold without the base. The base can be purchased separately.

There are 3 holes to adjust the umbrella width. It took 2 weeks before I could get it to the 2nd hole and after a month, I still haven't been able to to the 3rd hole to get it to a full 9' wide spread.I wonder how hard it would be to get a new lower pole because mine has gotten scratched up a bit. I bought a grommet for my table to create a tighter fit around the umbrella which I think will help, but just rubbing against the metal of the table put a scratch all the way around it.I love the simple nature of the umbrella, so easy to open and close and the lightness and quality is appealing so far. I have had no issues thus far, it's been open in fairly windy days without a problem. The black color I choose is very attractive against the cream of my house and I am certain it will not fade for a long time. I have owned Sunbrella products before and they have performed well for me. I can't really think of too many drawbacks at this time.Very happyAfter going through 2 patio umbrellas from the local big box home improvement store in about 3 years, we were ready for something that was built to last. When I saw this umbrella for the best price anywhere plus free shipping (thanks Amazon Prime!!!) I knew we had a winner. We bought the black because it was less than half of the current price. Black was not my first choice but we actually really like it and black goes with anything,This model is commercial grade and it shows. The 2 piece fiberglass pole and canopy support are crazy strong. Sunbrella fabric is the best and it has been sewn together well. Plus with the stainless hardware, I figure this may be the last umbrella we will have to buy. Ever. It is that nice.My only criticism is the gelcoat (or you can call it the paint) on the fiberglass scratches easily, so a tougher finish would be nice but it doesn't really matter since this thing sits outside 6-8 months of the year. It won't rot or rust and that is worth it in my opinion.Update 11/19/2015: This umbrella is still going strong! Amazingly the black fabric has not faded, the stainless hardware still looks great, and the pole and supports are virtually indestructible. More than once we have forgotten and left it up only to have a storm with high wind try to have its way with it. No damage. You get what you pay for.We replaced a "store brand" umbrella where a single gust of wind while we were out in the yard broke 2 of the aluminum ribs. It's slight hard to raise up, but otherwise very easy to lower and love that it does not tilt. It is simple, yet made of durable materials.I lived on sailboats for seventeen years, and made (myself) two sets of Sunbrella sailcovers and awnings. No one I knew would consider another fabric. I assumed it came only in bulk bolts. On land twenty-five years later, we've been through a couple of generations of ordinary patio umbrellas which ultimately faded and disintegrated. Shopping for replacements, I was surprised (duh) to learn Sunbrella makes finished products, not just fabric. Though I could have bought something at half the price (or less) Sunbrella umbrellas were a no-brainer. Confident these will last for years.I ordered this umbrella in black and have had it for over a year in the bright Florida sun.It has not faded and still looks great. The pulley system to raise and lower the umbrella works well and I hope to have this umbrella for years to come. This umbrella is $150 umbrella at best it has the same cheap aluminum pole that bends every time the wind blows and it came with a crank up handle this one belongs on the home Depot shelf. NOT a $330 umbrellaAmazing quality! Both fiberglass pole and Sunbrella fabric are why I purchased this umbrella. Usually go through at least one umbrella in a summer season, but I find Sunbrella usually sell umbrellas that last several seasons. Would have given this 5 stars, but the main pole is incredibly tall and doesn't end where most poles do. Having to store an umbrella for 8 months out of the year, it is easier to have one that stores smaller and fits into a shed. This has to go into a tall garage. Highly recommend, as I am a repeat customer. Update: So awesome I bought a second in black Jan 2020.
